Multiple Powerpath Change for Redhat Linux 5.x

PowerPath Linux Server Change MPIO

This A document that describes how a SAN boot Linux servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 or higher to pass EMC PowerPath MPIO.

  1. Copy the correct file / etc / server multipath.conf

  1. Do networking equipment and facilities that are loaded.
  1. At the command prompt, type the following command

(Rhel.sh) # mkdir / mnt / sysimage / Starting

(Rhel.sh) # multipath-F

(Rhel.sh) multipath #-V0

(Rhel.sh) mulitipath #-L

  1. You should now have more than one device
  1. Run the command to create kpartx, the device tree entries

(Rhel.sh) # kpartx-a / dev/mapper/mapth0

  1. Activate the volume group

(Rhel.sh) # lvm vgscan-config Unit (filter = ["a map / /", "r /.*/"])"

  1. (Rhel.sh) # lvm vgchange-ay-device-config (filter = ["A map / /" r /.*/" "])"
  1. Team leads

(Rhel.sh) # mount-t ext3 / dev/mapper/rootvg-lv00 / mnt / sysimage

(Rhel.sh) # mount-t ext3 / dev/mapper/mpath0p1 / mnt / sysimage / boot

(Rhel.sh) # mount-t proc none / mnt / sysimage / proc

(Rhel.sh) # mount / dev sysimage / mnt / / dev

(Rhel.sh) # mount / sys / mnt / sysimage / sys

  1. Change to the root directory

(Rhel.sh) # chroot / mnt / sysimage

  1. Create table entries dm

(Rhel.sh) # mknod mpath0 dmsetup

(Rhel.sh) # mknod Dmsetup mpath0p1

(Rhel.sh) # mknod mpath0p2 dmsetup

(Rhel.sh) # mknod mpath0p3 dmsetup

  1. Edit The file / etc / sysconfig / mkinitrd / multiple and changing the line "MultiPath = yes"
  1. Go Directory / Boat

(Rhel.sh) # umount / boot

(Rhel.sh) # mount / dev/mapper/mpath0p1 boot /

  1. Edit the file / boot / grub device.map entry and point mpath boot device

  1. Create a new ramdisk

(Rhel.sh) # mkinitrd-f / boot/HP-initrd-2.6.18-53.1.6.el5.img 2.6.18-53.1.6.el5

  1. Build the GRUB

(Rhel.sh) # grub-install / dev/mapper/mpath0

  1. Disconnect the hot-spare
  1. Start Server
